Drew Taylor returns as the FCCLA Northeast Region Star Events Champion......

Porter Consolidated Schools eighth grader Drew Taylor was the FCCLA Northeast Region Star Events Champion in the Creed Speaking and Interpretation competition on Feb. 6 in Bixby.

Taylor made the commitment in August to compete in the District Contest in December.  She was the only participant in the Junior Division at District so she was an automatic qualifier for Region Star Events. However, she scored higher at District than any of the participants in the Senior Division. 

By being named Region Star Events Champion she has advanced to the State Competition, which is April 3-4 in Stillwater. 

FCCLA is an organization that focuses on family life, careers and community involvement.

“Family can be a single person or a group of people you can rely on and they don’t necessarily have to be your biological family,” said Taylor.

Mrs. Criner has to say about Drew, “I’m super proud of this girl. She decided in August she was doing the Creed and not even being sick with the flu for a week was going to stop her. She doesn’t know I have big plans for her next year.”
